MTV VMAs 2022: Taylor Swift wins and Johnny Depp surprises

During the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift won the most awards and announced a new album.


Swift was the only artist to win two televised awards for the same song. She won best longform video and video of the year for All Too Well (10 Minute Version) from her re-recorded album Red from 2021.

Johnny Depp's head was digitally put on the helmet of MTV's floating astronaut mascot in a controversial move that seemed designed to get people talking on the internet.

Harlow opened the show with his song "First Class," which was an interpolation of Fergie's 2006 hit "Glamorous" and featured the former Black Eyed Peas member herself.

Before accepting the Global Icon award, the band played their new song "Black Summer" and their hit from 2002, "Can't Stop." This was a celebration of their almost 40-year career.
