In 2020, Bed Bath & Beyond hired 52-year-old Gustavo Arnal. According to his LinkedIn profile, he previously worked for Avon and Procter & Gamble.

Friday about 12.30pm, police responded to a 911 call and found a 52-year-old man deceased near the Tribeca building. Gustavo Arnal was arrested.

The New York City Medical Examiner's Office will establish Arnal's cause of death, police added.

Reuters' calculations based on SEC filings show Arnal sold 55,013 shares on August 16. Once a "category killer" in home and bath items, the big-box chain's fortunes have waned after selling more own-brand goods.

Bed Bath & Beyond will eliminate 150 shops, slash employees, and revamp its merchandising strategy to turn around its money-losing business.
